Sanctuary Bay River Estate & Equestrian Center:
Situated on the banks of the Sittee River, the Equestrian Center offers miles of bridle paths that wind throughout the Sittee River Wildlife Reserve for adventurous riders to explore. Ride across a savannah to the rainforest and onto a lagoon at Sanctuary Bay where horses can rest and their riders can enjoy the pleasure of a swim and some refreshment. Bird and animal watching from horseback can be more rewarding than on foot; riders are likely to see deer, peccary, foxes, tapirs and the cats of Belize.
The development surrounding the Equestrian Center comprises 15 lots ranging in size from one acre to four acres. All lot owners have, of course, an ownership interest in the Wildlife Reserve. Excellent stabling and pasturage is offered at the Center if you want to keep your own mount in Belize. Also, a protected oxbow pond left over from an ancient path of the Sittee River provides a protected anchorage for boats owned by lot owners. At this beautiful spot, it’s likely that on most mornings flocks of red-lored parrots, pairs of yellow-headed parrots, keel-billed toucans and a host of other exotic birds are seen making their way to their feeding grounds. Come see it to believe it! In addition, land is reserved for a polo field.
